Thames Water - Sewage Treatment Relocation

The Guildford Sewage Treatment Relocation Project is a major heavy civils scheme located in Guildford, Surrey. A new sewage treatment plant is being constructed on a former landfill site to facilitate the diversion and eventual demolition of the existing facility—unlocking the site for a large-scale residential development in its current location.

Key elements of the works included the installation of a Primary Settlement Tank and an Activated Sludge Tank. The Primary Settlement Tank involved 380 precast units and 259 in-situ concrete stitches, delivered through a phased construction programme. The Activated Sludge Tank was constructed using 425 precast units and 189 in-situ stitches.

​

The project was delivered in a highly collaborative manner alongside other contractors, within a technically complex and challenging work environment.
